Since 2010, Courtroom Insight’s evolution has continuously been fueled by clients’ feedback around their unique data challenges. This feedback has allowed us to pivot from a publicly accessible review forum to a private knowledge management platform, and ultimately—to a data solutions company. Throughout our evolutionary period, we’ve worked closely with 40+ enterprise clients and 15+ vendor partners (including LexisNexis, vLex, Thomson Reuters, Wolters Kluwer, and Hein Online, among others) to adapt our expertise and develop innovative new solutions that address data challenges. Some common challenges reported by our clients include:
- Frustration with unstructured data about lawyers.
- Inefficient systems for alumni-tracking.
- Difficulty tracking changes regarding corporate counsel clients.
- Trouble discerning which firm members have the strongest relationship with a target account or opposing counsel.
- Lack of time, labor, and financial resources to import dockets data via APIs into internal systems (including Foundation and other Experience Management Systems).
- An absence of legal professional insights tagged to matter data.
- Struggles normalizing internal client data across various systems, including CRM, EMS, and more.
The common thread between these challenges was dirty, unstructured, siloed data, all of which act roadblocks to firms extracting value from their other technology systems (EMS, CRM, Gen AI, etc.). Recognizing this overarching issue, CI built two new data solutions to address our clients’ challenges: (1) the CI Lawyer Directory, the most comprehensive single source of truth for lawyers, judges, and other legal professionals, each tagged with unique CI Identifiers, and (2) the CI Matter Connector, the only normalized and enriched dockets data connector for mapping and enriching external dockets data to internal matter information. These two solutions embody CI’s three data pillars: clean, structured, and connected data.
However, the CI Lawyer Directory and CI Matter Connector are only the start of our data solutions journey as we continue to scale up our internal efforts to develop solutions that solve client pain points. CI is best positioned to provide connected insights about clients, matters, and people due to our client-centric approach, deep technology expertise and strong partnerships. We are excited about our relaunch as a data company as we continue to offer comprehensive solutions that enable our clients to get the most out of their technology investments.
