Corporate hierarchies, litigation history, and—unlike any other company directory —your firm’s real connections to the companies and in-house counsel you want to win.
Every company directory can tell you what a company is. None of them can tell you who your firm knows there. Courtroom Insight (CI) built the CI Company Directory to close that gap, extending the same legal lens we built for the CI People Directory to the organizations lawyers work with and for.
The CI Company Directory is a company directory built specifically for law firms. It combines corporate hierarchy data, company litigation history, and a firm’s own relationship connections—including paths into a target’s in-house counsel team—in a single, pre-built platform.
The Directory is now live in beta for select clients, with general availability to follow. Check out how business development, marketing, and practice chairs can leverage the CI Company Directory to win new business:
Firm Connections to In-House Counsel
The CI People Directory already surfaces a firm’s internal reviews and connections to lawyers, judges, expert witnesses, mediators, and arbitrators. The Company Directory extends that to the organization level: it analyzes lawyers’ work and education history to surface connections between your firm and companies across the market, including companies you haven’t worked with (yet!).
That includes paths into a target’s in-house counsel team. A shared office, a shared law school class, or a firm alum who has gone in-house is the warmest introduction a pitch team can get — and the Company Directory surfaces all three.

Connection-count badges in lawyer search results
Zoom into a single company and the Connections tab shows exactly who at your firm worked out of the same office or attended law school with someone at the target organization, with an evidence-based assessment of the connection strength.

Corporate Hierarchies, Without the Guesswork
Company records go stale fast: acquisitions, mergers, and rebrands can outdate a record within months of it being created. The Company Directory pulls hierarchy and firmographic data from CI’s data pipeline on a fixed monthly refresh cycle, so firms are working from a current org chart instead of one somebody compiled by hand two years ago.
Drill into any organization and you’ll see its full subsidiary structure, and from there, into each subsidiary’s own lawyers and caseload. That means a firm can trace a relationship or a piece of litigation down to the specific entity involved, not just the parent company — so your team pitches the right entity and scopes conflicts and opportunities at the subsidiary level.

Litigation History on Every Company Profile
CI products are built on legal data specifically, not general firmographic data with legal features bolted on. Every company and lawyer profile in the Company Directory includes a litigation tab, so a caseload assessment is one click away from any org chart or connection you’re already looking at. Walk into a pitch already knowing the target’s caseload — and because individual case pages include counsel of record, you can see exactly which firms currently represent them, and where an incumbent might be vulnerable.

A company’s full litigation history, filterable by court and filing date
Case data updates dynamically through CI’s partnership with CourtListener’s RECAP database, the public archive or federal court filings, so new cases surface as soon as a complaint is filed, not weeks later with the next data refresh.

Individual case pages include parties, counsel of record, assigned judge, and a full docket timeline
Firm-Verified Attorney Biographies: Cutting Through Roster Noise
Attorney rosters built from self-reported bios, resumes, and LinkedIn profiles go stale the moment someone changes firms, and nothing stops an out-of-date or misattributed listing from sitting in a directory indefinitely. To keep the Company Directory’s rosters current, CI’s pipeline cross-references attorney records directly against each firm’s own website rather than relying on self-reported data alone.
Attorneys whose records are confirmed against their firm’s website carry a firm-verified badge, and that badge shows up directly in the product. A toggle on both the company and lawyer search pages lets users filter to firm-verified biographies only, screening out attorneys who may no longer be active at the target firm — so you know who is actually there today before you name a contact in an RFP or map a target’s outside counsel roster.

Where This Is Headed
The CI Company Directory gives firms something no other directory does: company data, litigation history, and your firm’s own relationships in one place — and it’s still being built out in partnership with our beta clients. FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
- How is the CI Company Directory different from other company directories? It’s built on people and matter data, not general firmographic data; therefore, it shows how your firm is connected to each company, not just what the company is.
- Can it show who at my firm knows someone at a target company? Yes, the Connections tab surfaces evidence-based, ranked connections based on shared offices, shared law schools, and firm alumni who’ve gone in-house.
- How current is the data? Hierarchy and firmographic data refresh monthly; litigation data updates dynamically through CourtListener’s RECAP database as new complaints are filed; attorney rosters are verified against firm websites.
